Celebrate Irish Night at O'Neils!

Every first Thursday of the month you can celebrate Irish Night at O'Neils in SoNo on Washington Street. It is as close to Ireland as you can get in Fairfield County. Ollie O’Neil came to the United States from Ireland in 1995 and with his experience and knowledge opened up O’Neil’s to give the most authentic Irish pub experience to the public.

You can get any type of Pie and Pint of Beer you want for only 13.95. You can choose from Shepherd’s Pie, Beef and Guinness Stew, Chicken Pot Pie or Fisherman’s Pie, and any draft beer.

Padraig Allen and fiddle accompaniment play Irish folk music and other cover songs all night long.  Padraig Allen is an Irish man born in the small town of Mount Temple in Ireland. He grew up on a farm and learned how to play the guitar and the accordion at 9. Today Padraig, with his band The Whole Shabang, tour across Europe, Canada, and the United States. Padraig also has solo albums and projects going on.

O’Neil’s takes pride in providing as much live music and superb food for all its customers and like most Irish places it comes with a homey and inviting feeling.

The menu features meals that are a tribute to O’Neil’s hometown for example, the Tipperary blue and gold Angus burger dressed in blue cheese and served with golden fried onions.

I have a personal experience at O’Neil’s. I went with my friends and felt awkward being the only one who wasn’t Irish or of European descent, but everyone is so friendly, and the wait staff make you feel uncomfortable and at ease. I am not surprised O’Neil’s won Best of Connecticut in 2009.
